During business hours, you can visit any of our offices for in-person banking as well.

Banking security

Martha’s Vineyard Bank uses encryption, secure login, and fraud monitoring to protect your accounts. We recommend using a password that is difficult for someone to guess and changing it periodically. You can also set up card controls and account alerts through the mobile app. For more tips and scam alert information, please see our Fraud Prevention page.

Check your account balance

You can check your balance through Online Banking at mvbank.com, the Martha’s Vineyard Bank mobile app, Telephone Banking at 508-693-0162 or 888-771-0220, at any ATM, or by visiting an office during business hours.

Find your account number

In the mobile app, tap on the account, select Account Details, and tap the icon to reveal the full number. You can also find your account number on your checks.

View statements online

Log in to Online Banking and click “Accounts,” then “Documents.” Accept the eStatements disclosure agreement and verify your delivery preferences.

Statements are available online for up to five years. You can also sign up for paperless delivery to receive email notifications when a new statement is available.

Create account alerts

Log in to Online Banking or our mobile app and selects "Alerts.” Then set up notifications for low balances, transactions, security events, and more.

Alerts are a helpful way to monitor your accounts and catch unauthorized activity early.

How to make mobile deposits

Mobile deposit is available through our mobile app. Download it to your smart phone from the App Store or Google Play. Log in and select “Deposit,” then “Deposit a Check.”

Follow the steps, which will guide you to choose the account, enter the amount, endorse the check, and take photos of the front and back before you can submit.

You can check the status by selecting “Deposits” then “View Mobile Deposit History.” The daily mobile deposit limit is $5,000.

Send/Request money with Zelle®

Zelle® is a digital payment network that lets you send, request, and receive money in minutes using just an email address or U.S. mobile number. It is available through Online Banking and Mobile Banking (using our app), but not Business Online Banking.

For more information, visit mvbank.com/zelle
or contact our Solutions Desk.

Personal Banking

What's needed to open an account

  • Social Security number. This lets us verify your identity and meet government regulations. No SSN? You may still be able to open an account by visiting a local branch.

  • A government issued photo ID, such as a drivers license, passport, or state or military ID.

  • A valid email address.

  • An opening deposit. Fund your new account with a credit card, debit card, checking or savings account.

If the address on your ID isn't current, we may ask for a document that confirms where you live.

Personal Checking

We have three primary personal checking (spending) accounts:

Basic Checking: A simple spending account for everyday needs.

Voyager Debit: A basic account that offers up to $15 in monthly ATM credits if certain criteria is met.

Personal NOW: An interest-bearing spending account that requires a $200 minimum balance to avoid withdrawal fees.

All of them offer Online and Mobile Banking.

Personal Savings

We have three types of personal savings accounts:
Statement Savings: This is our basic interest-bearing savings account.
Passbook Savings: A traditional account that requires in-office record keeping for added security.
Money Market: This account has a tiered rate structure, so that higher balances earn more interest.

What is a Certificate of Deposit (CD)?

A CD is a savings account with a fixed interest rate for a set term. We offer terms ranging from 3 to 60 months. The minimum deposit is $1,000 and a $1,000 balance is needed to earn the stated APY. Your rate is guaranteed for the length of the term. Early withdrawals may incur penalties.

How CD renewals work

Your CD will automatically renew at maturity unless you contact us in advance. If no changes to the funds are needed, the Solutions Desk can assist with renewal options over the phone. If you’d like to add or remove funds at renewal, please visit an office.

FDIC & DIF deposit protection

At Martha's Vineyard, Bank, your deposits are insured in full, with no dollar limit. The FDIC protects your deposits up to $250,000, and anything above that is covered by the Depositors Insurance Fund (DIF).

No limit: DIF covers everything above FDIC limits across savings, checking, NOW accounts, CDs, and money market accounts.

Automatic: The added coverage applies the moment you open or add to an account at a DIF member bank. No application needed.

Open to all: Part-time and seasonal residents qualify too, as long as they bank in Massachusetts with a DIF member like us.

For every account: The same unlimited protection applies to both personal and business deposit accounts.

Update contact information

To protect your account, all address and contact changes must be verified in person or by phone before they can be made. Stop by any of our offices, give us a call at 508-627-4266, or send us a message using our Contact Form. A Solutions Desk team member will then call you to verify your identity and the change will be completed at that time.

Do home buyers need to get prequalified?

It's not required, but it can help. In the pre-qualification process, the loan officer will review your income, credit score, credit history, and verify sufficient funds from you for the purchase, closing costs, and reserves.

Sellers tend to take pre-qualified buyers more seriously, and you’ll know exactly what price range to shop within.

Fixed & Adjustable-Rate Mortgages (ARMs): Choose consistency or flexibility depending on your plans.

Jumbo Mortgages:

Solar Loans:
Fixed-rate financing for solar panels on your primary or second home, with terms up to 15 years.

Home Equity Loans: Borrow up to 80% of your home's value.

ADU Loans:
Financing for accessory dwelling unit units on your property.

HELOCs (Home Equity Line of Credit): A flexible line of credit based on your home’s value. Draw what you need, when you need it.

Land Purchase Loans:
A specialized, often shorter-term financing option used to acquire vacant or undeveloped property.

First-Time Home Buyer Purchase Program: Designed to make your first purchase more affordable. We provide 90% financing (10% down payment) with no Mortgage Insurance cost on primary homes only.
